As you go beyond 1 hour the pace you can hold will start to be affected by the amount of energy you’re utilising and the regulation of your HR. If you have an efficient gate (use less energy/effort to move a certain speed) you will be able to keep your HR lower, body temp lower and maintain more energy.

Many factors including your running gate, (they are more effective if you heel strike or mid foot strike - but do t change your gate because of this), the course etc. They are definitely faster, but over half marathon you also need them to be more efficient. You’ll definitely be faster but hard to say by how much.

Prices vary around the world I guess. In the UK Nike AF or VF (£240-£280) are over double the price of endorphin speed 3’s (£114), but my point is they don’t make you twice as fast.

Long enough to feel like you’ve achieved something significant, but short enough you don’t regret it in the morning. 👌

If you are super keen to go as fast as you possibly can you could look at cheaper alternative like the Saucony Endorphin speed 3

If it’s your first marathon I would suggest getting something without a carbon plate in it. Vaporflys are designed to make you that 0.1% faster once you have expended every other avenue. It’s. The equivalent of buying a £10,000 full carbon road bike for your first ever race.

Watch an inspiring running vid on YouTube (I’m not on about those generic get pumped inspiration vids, something genuinely inspirational (https://youtu.be/laMBEjxlst8?si=TobvWQfIZ2KWUwYD)) If you still don’t want to go, maybe today’s not the day.

I had a conversation today with an old mate and he reminded me of the time we both were going to buy a bitcoin in 2012 for around $10 but didn’t when we found out that you didn’t receive an actual coin with the B logo on it 🤦‍♂️.

YES! It helped me a lot. Recovery time has come down, flexibility increased and therefore likelihood of injury down. I have also mixed it in with hip mobility specific sessions. Would recommend Adrien.

I go with vest if over 10 miles (16km), but if it’s hot I will sometimes chuck a squishy bottle half full in a net pocket on the waists of my shorts on shorter runs just so I have a few hundred mil.
