It is a physical piece printed in 2 layers with the letterpress technique.

Wow, how did you carve the blocks? Are they wood or another material?? 

I have tried a little bit of this with a lasercutter and cherry wood, but printing results were kinda mixed.

That's awesome. The little indents from a letterpress print are sooo satisfying.

The printing process was done by a local printer specialized in letterpress. They make two plates (in some kind of plastic I think) for each color. It is then printed on to the paper. By varying the amount of pressure the shapes can be indented a little into the paper.
