why not use an LST like for example rETH which promotes decentralization? (and not stETH which want to replace ETH as base money)

the $SPACE staking contract was deployed from /mor's new MOR20 factory, which currently only supports stETH (https://mor.org/fair-launch) and utilizes the rebasing aspect to accrue yield, which rETH does not.

supporting rETH is certainly possible with contract changes though, and beyond rETH, I think it will make sense to utilize LRTs in the future if/when they become the new "risk free" rate.

friends in the morpheus community are working on a new version of the staking contracts that will not only support additional assets and chains (ie stables or even sol), but will also enable depositing native assets (ie. ETH) and enabling the protocol to allocate those assets on behalf of depositors
