$SPACE Launch - September 12th

First off, wtf is nounspace?

The community-owned, open source, customizable farcaster client with a growing library of embeddable mini-apps called Fidgets.

We were kickstarted by Nouns DAO (nouns.wtf) with a $100k grant in April, and we just opened access to all Farcaster users to explore for free.

$SPACE is the governance and utility token for /nounspace.

The fair launch commenced on June 14th, and as of now, over 1920 stETH is deposited. You can earn $SPACE now by depositing stETH on space.nounspace.com and contributing your yield to the protocol-owned liquidity pool.

But that’s not the only way...

The season 0 $SPACE airdrop will occur on Base on Sep 12th, the same day the based $SPACE/ETH liquidity pool launches.

This first airdrop will be allocated to nounspace OG NFT (nOGs) holders, users that have customized their space, and fair launch participants.

The deadline to qualify is September 10th at 11:59pm PT, and the sooner you qualify the better!

Okay, but wtf is $SPACE and why would anyone want to earn and hold it?
This is an excellent question, and honestly refreshing to hear you ask.

There are a few reasons why someone may want to hold $SPACE:

First and foremost, it's the governance token for nounspace. If you want to own and help shape the future of social, you want $SPACE. All other utilities extend from governance, and the possibilities are endless.

Here are some of the initial utilities the founding team is developing:
A. $SPACE Tipping. First for nOGs holders, and soon based on the amount of $SPACE you've staked.
B. $SPACE Rank. Stake $SPACE to increase the ranking of your posts in feeds on nounspace (coming 🔜)

On September 12th, the nounspace DAO launches.

From this point onward, nounspace will be owned and governed by the community of $SPACE holders.

nounspace's founders are setting up a state-of-the-art DAO stack to empower the community to coordinate efficiently and autonomously from ideation to execution. The nounspace DAO is set to receive 20% of all $SPACE emitted over the 11 year curve, and the community has the power to update the emission allocation via governance.
