For reference. We ran a program of 100 artists creating cc0 artwork. Over 6 months. 

All in minting was just under 5k. 

This bot - mints. Gifts. Fanfare. 

And yet. Nothing dramatically new.

I don’t think it’s speculative. In this case, it’s also provenance. 

And @sqx can say it’s not dramatically new, except that it is. And that’s why it’s getting so much attention. 

We’re in an attention economy. Capture attention; capture the value that goes with it.

Ok I completely forgot that Zora nfts can now turn into memecoins. So on this one — yup — speculation it is lol

It’s new here. And that’s where the attention is coming from so definitely new. There hasn’t been a bot this interactive and interesting launching bounties and tipping people higher. That’s why it’s popping off. 

And agree — it’s short term attention. We’ll move on in a week to the next shiny object (or a civil war —which ever comes first)

Guess my point is — it’s hard to attract attention to art these days. And completely different from what’s happening with aethernet. That can’t be duplicated. It’s a one off.

I disagree. But that’s not new. 🤣🤣

Mostly that attention economy is worth much in the long run. Short term. Sure. But to me that’s a net negative. 

I also don’t think it’s all that new. I’m sure some research probably shows this was done well before now. 

And to me it’s AI building AI. Lacks that. OMG factor.

🤣 yeah we’ll pretty much just be taking about all this tomorrow. 

Using provenance in this context since the mint referred to was of the first tx by the bot and the first of aethernet’s zora nfts (although I did capture a cast as a moshicam mint too). So some people like me mint just to mark the moment and remember this first. Others may see the provenance as speculative value capture —speculating that it may be worth something some day. 

Either way — the provenance of this “first” is what drove attention.

Can you explain more what you mean about provenance? I understand provenance as a concept but don’t think it inherently drives value.
