Chasing users fleeing another platform is not a long-term valuable strategy. Effort is better spent trying to figure out the compelling reason for people to join the network independently. If you have that, then you can use sudden external entropy to help grow. But sign ups for the sake of sign ups don’t matter.

Often times pain is the motivator. But also -- probably needed to make that push prior to them losing access to twitter. Harder to reach them now anyway. Just heard someone mention today they'll be spending more time here because of losing access to Twitter in Brazil -- they were already on here but were still using twitter more. So I'd be suprised if you didn't see some higher activity coming from Brazil.

Brazilian here. I can confirm the "was already here and will spend more time here". Here in Brazil people has no idea Warpcast exists. So, not an option for mainstream adoption yet. Headlines in the news were like: "Bluesky vs. Threads ... which one should you choose..."
