Thought exercise: imagine you’re dead tomorrow. Your work friends will be utterly devastated. For a few weeks. Then they move on. Your family, partner, maybe a few friends will be devastated and will suffer your loss forever. Your internet friends might not even know what happened.

Sometimes that does happen —people disappear—but there are a few people like that who’ve had such an impact we’d talk about them all the time. And sometimes they return! btw the older I get the more I do think about this
