I haven't been active in Builder DAO, but proposals like this make me want to start voting again. Seriously, are we spending the equivalent of 160 days' worth of auction proceeds on this?

It was no where near 160 days worth of auction proceeds -- that would be 40 eth. This was 4 eth and about .4% of the treasury.
