In Honduras, Goods are expensive (+30% compare to US) but labor is cheap and it often equals out. ie the lawnmower is 30% more but the landscaper will mow your lawn for $5. This is bad for the country, where goods are expensive but labor prices suppressed. In cases were labor doesn't matter, like buying a new phone or computer, 30% is A LOT and I just buy less stuff. I have enjoyed this forced break from consumerism and have a different relationship to my stuff but I can't imagine the havoc it's going to cause for the average American and American business. It's certainly not a recipe for growth. Tarrifs mean less money to buy domestic things. * Goods are expensive here from a combination of tariffs, taxes and just bad logistics and infrastructure.

Estimate is $5000 more per average family per year. With more unemployment coming. And people will stop buying stuff so more businesses will lay off people or go out of business. “Just survive” like during Covid.
