sometimes to gut check props I use this helpful nouns.camp header to think on a larger scale. This prop asks for 1.7% of inflows so the treasury could fund ~50 attempts at the same idea or caliber in a projected year. Does that feel right? Would the outcome of "only" 50 similar props be interesting or impactful? If it feels like we would need 100, 200 attempts to produce great outcomes, then then prop needs to do more work on either of those dimensions for me to feel excited about it.

I can’t help but see all the budgets as how many attempts left. Like a life bar.

We desperately need a version of small grants to come back where small drops deliver proof of concept and also proof of competence in the builder and make it easier to gauge interest in taking things further
