I believe that, but it’s not totally fwp, I went over a year without a card and 1.5 months in Latam, no issue with tap almost everywhere. I’m sure this is still super hit or miss as well

How long do you think that stays true though? Tap comes on the cheapest of terminals now and merchants use anything that works

This is kinda a “first world problem”.

After traveling in many developing economies, it’s a must to have the physical card….very few places use Apple Pay or similar.

Apple pay is pretty great. My issuer doesn’t have it setup yet and have been running without it and I definitely say I prefer cardless

N=1 but I never carry mine anymore. Most days do not have it. There’s some rare exceptions like trip to ATM or going to H-E-B which doesn’t offer Apple Pay.

What was the rate difference between swipe and tap? I would think you’d get the same card present rate for that but maybe not?

A physical card serves as a good backup, but contactless is a must! Our original card was swipe only to keep costs down for the PoC, and it became quickly obvious that everyone wants tap-to-pay.

For the most part… on road trips stopping to get gas ⛽️ in smaller towns (esp if mini-mart is closed) I would keep one

As much as I love tech support making lifestyle easier. I think I still like the idea of  holding physical card to swipe 😊

Yea, had experience with Apple wallet and that was nice. Having everything on my phone would be nice but there were limits like you can’t use Apple wallet on some terminals like wtf.
