Not having Russia at the Olympics turns Gymnastics into a showcase, not a competition. 

Competition — in sport, the market, against yourself — is adversarial. Without an adversary at or above your level, you’re just showing up. No matter how good or talented you are, you can’t claim victory without a fight.
