Have you used RIR on your workouts? RIR stands for repetitions in reserve after each set. I have been using a RIR of 2 on every exercise instead of going to muscle failure every single time. Honestly I’ve been seeing results by doing that. So, has anyone used this type of method on your workouts?

The cf I go to has been using RPE (I don’t recall what it means) which systematically seems to work exactly as you’re describing Format seems solid, no complaints but I haven’t seen anything different to report either. Tbf I don’t think too deeply about my training these days so my exp may be useless

It is definitely similar, by coincidence I have this image which shows the correlation. I have been experimenting with the RIR because the complete failure mindset was reducing the overall performance on my workouts. Before I was doing 10 reps on 1st set, then 8 and 6. Now it is 3 sets with 8 reps all the way.
