Having now participated in both sides of the labor pool for more than a decade each, I can say construction is significantly more rewarding on a daily basis than tech work is. I absolutely love building in tech space, but only if it’s a thing I get to use, otherwise I’d rather build your house for you

I still occasionally go work on friends jobs. For a handful of years I would regularly call my buddy that has a roof cleaning company and tell him to put me on the schedule for the week and knock out a couple jobs, just to get a sense of completion that you don’t get in tech
