One of the best things my parents did for me was not teach me about sexism. I didn’t grow up hearing the odds were stacked against me—I grew up hearing that hard work and tenacity win.

I was 20 (!!) before I even learned the gender wage gap existed. Until then, I walked into every room, every interview, completely unaware I was ‘disadvantaged.’ Would I have pursued finance or tech if I’d grown up expecting bias? No idea. But ignorance made me fearless
