Another linguistics note: Has anyone else noticed how eliding the subject (in this case "I") seems to have become more and more acceptable in English over the last 10 years? Wonder if anyone has written about this trend.

good! using capitalization to begin sentences doesn't convey any extra information. and with "i" - it seems so arbitrary, especially now that we mostly don't use serifs

I'd say there's room for languages to use capitalization well; it's like syntax highlighting. But English definitely doesn't do that well. The way German uses Capitalization is interesting in this Regard.
