@vgr what sort of ratchets do you use to make progress across a body of work that's much bigger than what you can fit in your head?

None. It moves if and when it moves. If it stalls for long enough I give up and abandon the thing.

I do have a very high tolerance for letting stalled things just sit there for years though. I have some projects stalled for over a decade that I haven’t yet given up on.

These are not good habits. I don’t recommend adopting them.
