toxic positivity is the pressure to only display positive emotions and suppress or dismiss any negative feelings—even when those negative emotions are valid and appropriate. in other words: it’s the idea that ā€œno matter how bad things are, you should stay happy, grateful, or optimistic.ā€ on the surface, it looks like encouragement, but underneath, it invalidates real human experiences.

Toxic positivity is propped up through gaslighting and denial. When it becomes too overwhelming it’s quickly replaced with anxiety, hatred, fear, and destructive behaviors. Keep a zero bubble by acknowledging your feelings and expressing them in a healthy way.
