I’ve always loved sneakers, and dreamed in high school that once I started making money I would have a huge collection

but over time my enthusiasm has waned. I can (mostly) afford the shoes today, but there’s only like a dozen models that really interest me anymore

this is basically the same concept as a kid saying “when I’m an adult, I’m gonna eat candy for every meal”

but then once you’re in a position to do it, you realize it’s not what you actually want

the hunt is almost always more satisfying than the kill

which is why I’ve long had a saying:

“chase what you can’t catch”
