it really feels like we’re reaching an endgame state for ad-driven social. tiktok model of hyper algo-driven, full screen, looping video feed is so absurdly addicting

tiktok, ig, and youtube all blending into the same product. the content has become so manically addicting it feels more like you’re a prisoner than truly “discovering” or “exploring” new stuff

Interesting to think about how a new device like what Hu.ma.ne's building could change that. I'm not fully convinced that there will be a compelling enough product to break the addiction, but I'm happy their working on it.

the scarier thought experiment though is ... what if it's not probably science fiction for now but def know some people in the ad driven social industry who openly muse about using Dalle-esk ML to generate content designed to be maximally addictive

One thing exacerbating this momentum is the lack of attribution when you repost things and no way for original creators to report and take down content easily. If you're a creative and your work is good then it's gonna get stolen and resulting posts will have more views than you.
