NEW POST: Devlog №.14 — I'm suspending work on Handshake indefinitely — /beachfront will continue to exist but no new features/releases Decision was made roughly two weeks ago. I was saddened but ultimately feel it's for the best. I enjoyed spending the last four years of my life working to bring awareness, understanding, and excitement to Handshake via posting across Mastodon, Farcaster, Slack, and LinkedIn, and building in public. We have a LOT of silent onlookers who are aware of us and the tech but...they're also aware of how embarrassingly toxic our community is. Despite my endless optimism that *someday* we'll get our act together and move in concert, I gotta admit...it's gotten to me. These past few weeks away from Handshake has felt great. I've long felt that it was my responsibility to build and launch Handshake-based products that'll appeal to non-developers because I'm the only designer in the space. I had no problem with that. I had a problem with the realization that all my work would be supporting a vision I didn't sign for. Realizing a long absent founder had the audacity to spin a cash grab as good for the community for short-term gain...and has notable OGs supporting him. I will not abide.

i just read through all this. sorry to hear it's come to this for your handshake projects. whenever i hear these things, i assume investors are getting antsy and starting to apply pressure to change things (╥_╥) but i have to admit, my optimism for what handshake is has diminished a lot since i learned about it so idk
