i got it in my head that i needed to build a 3d reference model for my homepage sprite so i've been stuck in blender all week (๑>ᴗ<๑) i'm still working on it but basically i want to make the different angles of walk cycle more consistent for something else i want to try to add in the future i'll render out the frames to use as a guide to redraw by hand in ipad to make the sprite more flat and stylized like an actual sprite design rather than a blurry 3d model passed through the blender compositor i also cleaned up and consolidated more of the html/css on my homepage and knocked of a few more kilobytes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lot's of work! i wrote a new blog post about thinking of this work on the homepage as a self-portrait if you're interested in reading! https://ellesho.me/page/website/now/#self-portrait

u should! i'm starting to think that being able to express one's unique existence is one of the most important things the internet does. when i first got online, the most interesting thing to me was being able to learn about all sorts of ppl around the world. in that way it's an empathy builder. also i have a theory that the degradation of empathy in recent years could be tied to the homogenizing/dehumanizing effects of how the mechanics of social media has evolved ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm, that's a good theory. The prevalence of polarizing politics in social media and vehemently demonizing the "other," doesn't help either. I like to think most people can "agree to disagree" without resorting to violence but alas. I've gotten people to commission work for me back when I was more active on Twitter. Could be fun to create low-poly versions of those.

yeah, the structure of social media encourages ppl to think of others as just numbers like engagement points or follower counts or, now, tokens (╥_╥) i think this was extra obvious when ppl started viewing and calling other ppl npcs (non-ironically.) social platforms are causing antisocial behavior in a lot of ways
