In multiple European cities now I see taxis being allowed to use the bus lane (while of course regular cars are not). What's the policy justification for this?

Taxi drivers demonstrated hard against Ubers. I believe it’s one of the few remaining competitive advantage against Ubers that the government maintains to ease tensions, and what allow them to get along.
