No, an old ugly paint on canvas, I added gesso, different kinds of paint to neutralize the old pigment and finally acrylic but in white on black instead of white on black because there were still traces of the previous painting.

ah it's the gesso giving it that texture and structure then, very cool! love paintings on paintings. this one was definitely a labor of love. gorgeous work nicolas. thanks for the process infos!
