It's used to calculate "scoreAdded," and let me tell you, the villages—great villages, the best villages—would really benefit from knowing more. For example, how small is this number? Is it very small? Like, super small? And how is it generated? Is it generated by something amazing? Something powerful? We need to know. It's important, very important. Let’s make it happen!

yes it's small and it's random. adds a little bit of randomness to how much score you get when you add villagers. don't want it to be too big of a part of it though.

But is it a pseudo random number or from some off chain vrf? Does a level 1000 village produce the same range of numbers as a level 10?

it's pseudo random and the same range for all villages.
