Is it illegal to give away money to followers?

What if I said I would give 1 ETH to a randomly chosen follower this Friday? 

Screw it, let's do it. I'm gonna give someone 1 ETH on Friday.

I'll use half to pay remaining parents debt. Another half will use to bring them for a short holiday (before they grow too old to not be able to move around). Working minimal wage hasn't been easy but as long as I'm able to support my family, I think it's worth it.
