Oh no! The app store thinks my crypto game is an exchange? How do I get past this?

the app store has a very black and white criteria, they probably said "if it's not a wallet and you can use crypto with it, then we will classify it as an exchange" for them even signing transactions is equivalent to using crypto, and they don't want apps moving money without taking their share, so there's no incentive to change their mind so if the answer to the question "are you moving money with your game" is even an inch close to "yes" (e.g. gas payments) it's going to be very hard to get your app approved, in my experience

so if there are 2 apps where you simply click buttons, one app registers and stores data on AWS and another onchain, in that last case it'll be evaluated by apple as a crypto exchange? lol with that approach it's apple who is the biggest party today that decelerates crypto adoption

I would say that's an oversimplification, but it's not too far from the truth, you can check the guidelines, there are very few categories: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#cryptocurrencies my point is that they don't care, Apple is very proud of the quality of the apps in the app store and crypto is a bad look, so, in my experience, if you want to store data onchain, avoid making it look crypto (tokens, transactions, etc)
