but degen went a step further and implemented tipping in reply which was the first viral Farcaster mechanism

tldr: there is only one $degen

also $degen just sounds better in web3 than $SPAM. Which should have been $PAM in my book but that ship has sailed

think the original idea was you spam $SPAM in comment which was pretty cool

but it didn't catch on as time went by, maybe due to ticker, who knows
