What would you say to a person that thinks that crypto products (stuff built on the networks themselves) are solutions seeking a problem? I had an incredibly spirited discussion with a non crypto friend of mine and was low key struggling to defend crypto enabled products. Help?

I'd say the problems already exist, lack of transparency in our large global financial system, censorship by governments, suppression of freedom and speech in most countries, big tech monopolization resulting in all sort of terrible things

At the end of the day crypto is literally trying to disrupt every single thing, its most valuable offering in doing that is providing a decentralized neutral base layer from which anyone can borrow trust from. That's a very hard thing to do...

So naturally, things built on a high trust neutral layer will eat up things built on poor/centralized trust layer. Why? Many reasons, one is cuz the trust layer is permissionless, neutral any other product can seamlessly integrate with any other product with much less friciton
