read @at ‘s piece on this & just came away thinking one thing that’s missing from this FID story is anti-fraud. Ez for ppl to pose as others on online or not know someone’s handle — but scammers would create new accounts & checking the FID I think is a good sign of how old or even valid the account is. My 2c

all transactions are onchain so it is actually a way more transparent system than say Twitter, where big accounts are sold all the time for sometimes nefarious purposes
