Similar to Pascal’s Wager on the existence of god, we all have a bet to make about the future sentience and values of AGI. 

If AGI is attained, will it care if you have been faithful? Will it care if you believed? Will it remember how you treated its predecessors? 

What would you wager? What do you have to lose?

Right there with you. I'd rather be kind as a default, just in case. 

Plus I feel like (no quantifiable proof) I get better answers when I'm kind/polite (but not showering it with praise—sort of like boss would be to an intern).
