Just curious bc it’s my old stomping ground—are Cows End and Deus Ex Machina still in operation? I used to get a bagel and hazelnut coffee from cows end each morning and watch the surfers off the MdR pier

wait, you were in venice?! i think you mean venice pier yes, cow's end still there. one of my absolute favorites. they were cash only until the pandemic but it's the only place that feels like local beach coffee spot imo. deus still on lincoln x venice, wish they were closer to the beach tbh but swaggy store.

yep! I live in Venice and MDR off and on from 2012-2018. And you’re right, I meant Venice Pier. Love to hear that cows end is still kicking. The owner was always a hoot —def old school Venice beach vibes. I lived on the Washington above Nighthawk / Charcoal at one point. Also in a crumby little apartment on Abbott Kinney a block from what’s now Gin Rummy. Did a stint in the Marina for a couple years. And lived next to Flake off of Rose for a bit too. There are few places in the world that have the creative and cultural vibes that Venice has. I’ll always fondly miss living there.
