My parents have a friend who was 9 figure+ individual 

Big time CEO of F500 got acquired by Cisco and took his golden parachute, sits on a few boards now and fucks around

So first time I met him was at a dinner with my parents, he shakes my hand and goes “you’re shorter than the pictures”

Without missing a beat I go, “yea and you’re older”

He breaks into this huge belly laugh. With that he accepted the jest in return. I passed the shit test, and could now communicate on the same level on him

He’s given me some very very valuable business advice in my ventures, and I know had I not stood my ground I would be seen as just any other person
