genuine question: how did U2 become like the biggest band in the world (iTunes releases, Sphere residency, etc) when i (and a lot of people i ask) can’t really name more than two songs? disclaimer: with or without you is a good song

Because they sounded different. What the Edge was doing on guitar was just different - people noticed and started listening - Bono’s lyrics were relevant and of the zeitgeist - they earned their attention
