Sometimes, I take a break. If you're burned out, there's not amount of additional effort that will fix that. You just need rest.
Other times, I remain disciplined. My wife and I have agreed that Monday and Thursday evenings are for Fieldway work, and she puts the kids to bed on Thursdays so I can start earlier in the evening. It doesn't matter if I'm tired after a long day, that time has been set aside for Fieldway, so I get to it. And I find that, when I go to bed, I am glad that I put in the effort.
But overall, I love what I'm doing. I care about it. To nurture that love, I try to make sure I'm working in a sustainable way that doesn't put too much pressure on it and cause me to burn out unnecessarily. Check out https://www.jimcollins.com/concepts/twenty-mile-march.html for an applicable passage... it's easier to stay motivated if you don't set yourself up for failure by pushing yourself so hard that you break. 1 reply
