"post after post of nothing" is exactly why social incentives are so dangerous - they are incredibly effective for generating *volume*, but algorithms can only approximate what "good" volume really is so, eventually people find a meta of minimum input -> max incentive reward, and the ecosystem goes sideways. I think it’s maybe about the algorithm improving and the people that wanna see talk about allowances will and the people that want to have deeper discussions will have a more nuanced TL showing those casts. It’s early and so hopefully it’s all being tweaked on the back end.

algo def has room to improve, you're 100% right but this isn't only a farcaster issue either; you ever see random fight videos or rage bait in your twitter feed? this is the same problem manifest elsewhere, and just as twitter leaves users to deal with that mess, farcaster leaves channel mods to street sweep atm

Yeah that’s the biggest reason why I don’t get on Twitter anymore. It’s just a sinkhole of depravity. You’re right that we don’t want this place to turn into that even though all the same incentives are there. Appreciate you calling this into question so we can maybe steer the ship while it’s early.
