When it comes to world design, what do you prefer? Open world, linear world or branching linear world? If it was in my hands... I would ban every developer from doing open world games. I can't think of a single game other than Outer Wilds where the open world actually added anything to the game...

Preferably branching linear or divided into chapters where every chapter is open. Open worlds aren't doing it for me, Witcher 3 being an exception

It doesn't do it for me either in Witcher 💀 like... The whole plants farming thing, so much backtracking for no reason. You could do the same in a branching linear world like souls imo. Adding quest on hidden paths etc

Have you played Witcher 2? I'd say that's the perfect mix for me. Divided into chapters where every chapter leaves room for exploration

I have played some of Witcher 2... Actually have played some of all 3, without ever being able to finish them 💀🤣 I can't say I enjoy Witcher 2 combat AT all tho... I wanted to shoot myself in the nuts the last time I played. Stopped in the boss fight vs letho in the thermals

Ahh yes that one.. It's tricky until it's not. I absolutely love the Witcher game and books but hate the tv series furiously. How about Bioshock? Semi open world, almost Castlevania style with light backtracking etc.

What I remember from bioshock wasn't it completely linear? Played it so long ago I barely remember it 💀 I have to replay them at some point.
