When I first understood how blockchain technology enables decentralized trust, it was a revelation. The idea that a network of computers could maintain a tamper-proof, shared record of transactions without the need for a central authority was mind-blowing.

Same. For so many transactions, a central authority slows down processes, restricts use and makes them more expensive. The benefits they offer include security and recompense if scammed, but I think those things will improve for blockchain over time.
