It’s been a while since I was hiring engineers… any more recent tips for increasing gender diversity in applicant pool?

The times I've had luck in hiring engineers that weren't cis men have been times I throttled hiring process enough to actively and directly reach out to more diverse candidates. A lot of the time those convos are appreciated and can result in referrals even if that individual isn't interested. It's labor intensive.

I am a cis man, so maybe your experience will be different. My wife is also an engineer and she has slightly better luck hiring diverse candidates (more opportunities and better conversion), but it's still a slog. We've spent a lot of time talking about it.
