I stopped considering myself an atheist once I realized it was a mental trap

Similar for me. My beliefs are unchanged, but labels like "I'm an atheist" have never served me well so I avoid them more and more often. I dig Zen Buddhism, but don't consider myself a Buddhist. I also don't think that makes me not-an-atheist. I hear being able to hold competing PoV is healthy 🤷🏻♂️

Sign me up for religion of “can hold competing PoVs” 👏 The older I get, the more reluctant I am to specifically identify with anything relative. I try and keep identity light and unencumbered by ideas that swirl and shift as learn more about our universe religiosity seems to get heavy quick, whether its about a dude, a lineage, or nothing

Same :) Organized religion still feels as bad as it ever did to me, but I've definitely opened up to finding a sense of spirit, if not outright spirituality. "No" closes doors and I want to be opening them and looking around, if only to observe.
