Florida Man Impersonates Elon Musk, Defrauds Elderly Woman of $250K – FOX

⏺Bradenton police have arrested Jeffrey Moynihan on theft charges after he allegedly impersonated Elon Musk to commit fraud.

⏺The 56-year-old businessman befriended a 74-year-old Texas resident on Facebook, starting an online relationship in 2023.

⏺To make his impersonation convincing, Moynihan meticulously researched Musk’s life and activities, enabling him to establish a high level of trust with the woman.

⏺Investigators revealed that the suspect defrauded the woman of $250,000 for a supposed "investment project," promising to return $55 million in the future.

⏺If convicted, Moynihan faces up to 30 years in prison.
