Flesh-Eating Bacteria Surge in Florida Following Recent Hurricanes - CBS
⏺Health officials in the Sunshine State report an increase in cases of Vibrio vulnificus infections. The spread of the bacteria began after hurricanes Helene and Milton.
⏺In nearly eleven months, Florida has recorded 74 cases of vibriosis, 13 of which were fatal. Last year, there were 46 cases and 11 deaths in total.
⏺The bacteria can infect people through accidental ingestion of contaminated water or contact with open wounds. Symptoms include fever, low blood pressure, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting.
⏺The bacteria rapidly eat away human flesh, and if antibiotics fail, doctors often resort to limb amputations.
⏺The largest increase in vibriosis has been observed in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties—those most affected by the hurricanes. 0 reply

The Atlantic compared Trump to Hitler - NYP
⏺On Friday, The Atlantic published an article titled "Trump Speaks Like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini," where author Anne Applebaum claims that the Republican brought "dehumanizing language" into American politics.
⏺The article received sharp criticism from journalists, politicians, and public figures. Glenn Greenwald responded, saying that after eight years of failing to insult Trump with various comparisons, Applebaum could only resort to comparing him to all dictators at once.
⏺Meanwhile, The Atlantic's editor Scott Stossel praised Applebaum, stating that she is well-versed in the history of authoritarian regimes, and that people should take notice when such an authoritative person compares Trump to the most brutal dictators.
⏺In her article on Trump, the author calls the Republican's rhetoric "ugly and repulsive," noting that the terms used by Trump were once employed by Adolf Hitler.
"This is just more fake news from a third-rate outlet,"
