Denmark’s Green Tripartite Agreement to Tackle Climate Change

⏺In a historic move to combat climate change, Denmark has reached a Green Tripartite agreement that includes a tax on livestock emissions, marking the world’s first flatulence tax. 

⏺The tax will impose a levy on methane emissions from livestock, beginning in 2030, with rates increasing in the coming years. The agreement also aims to address nitrogen pollution, restore natural habitats, and plant new forests. 

⏺The Danish government has committed to transforming large agricultural areas into forests and wetlands in an effort to meet its ambitious climate goals.
