Trump selects a candidate to lead the Department of Education he plans to dissolve

⏺ President-elect Donald Trump has appointed 76-year-old Linda McMahon, former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), as Secretary of Education.

⏺ McMahon, who previously headed the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term, will lead the Department of Education, which Trump has pledged to dismantle during his campaign.

⏺ "Linda will leverage her years of leadership experience and deep understanding of both education and business to empower the next generation of American students and workers, making America the number one nation for education globally," Trump stated.

⏺ According to the NYP, Trump has tasked McMahon with giving states a more prominent role in shaping education policy.
