earlier today i went downstairs to help my roommate carry her groceries. we didn’t use the fob to enter the building bc the door was wide open. the security guy was right next to the door and he said “oh you need to call from the box to use the elevator” he thought we were delivery people???? and i sure as hell know why he thought so 😭😭😭😭😭

lol unless hes 100% sure that you are a tenant there isnt it sort of his job to assume that you may not be? i dunno, ive done that line of work, sometimes ur just not sure and have to play things cautiously because thats the job, security, unless hes sure, he cant be sure... sometimes it can be awkward

i get that he was doing his job but i’ve done the same thing a number of times where the door was open bc someone else got there before me and i’ve just walked in and was never stopped. this was him letting me know that i need to call the box thingy so whoever i’m here to deliver the groceries for can let me in and only then i can press that level in the elevator. he wouldn’t specifically have to say that to anyone not carrying grocery bags and just ask them a different question perhaps if they entered without using a fob. 🤧

Yea he's gotta figure out a way to approach this kind of situation in a way that doesn't assume either way.
