Doing max reps attempt is not the ideal way to increase your numbers. Instead work on doing several sets at around 50% of your max reps. And form there start a planned progression

thanks for the advice, so you would say split it into 15 a set then do more sets?

This is a good strategy to increase your endurance. Itβs not optimal for strength and muscle mass. For those better to do less reps but with deficit or extra weight. Doing it will help to increase also your max rep but itβs not the most efficient way. Probably now itβs better to focus on build endurance and then strength based on your goals

15 could be a good number. The important thing is that you can do these reps with effort but perfect form. And yes do a number of set that allow you to do like 3 times your max mumber of pushup. Letβs say your max is 35, so letβs try to reach 105 reps with sets of 15 with 90β rest. When you can close it, increase the reps in the single set and reduce the sets or reduce the rest time
