Microsoft has been pumping tens of millions to develop Visual Studio Code. Now they will flex their power with embrace, extend and extinguish to put clones out of business. Better to start using GitHub Copilot or build your own editor ecosystem.

Turning off marketplace access to forks is harsh, but I understand why they'd do it (EU competition people might eventually tell them not to but I can see why they try) Personally idc, I use Cline, that's an extension in VSCode. Wondering if they'll come after that next or if that would be a bridge too far to protect moat.

At the moment no other extensions have the same API access as Github Copilot, but I might be wrong here and my information outdated. For everyone's sake, it would be better if there is generic "copilot" integration in VS Code, instead of forks.
