What does Farcaster look like in the near term? At some point this summer: 1. Coinbase Wallet will have a Farcaster-powered feed in their mobile app with millions of existing users. This will be the most significant increase to practical decentralization of the protocol since the beginning. 2. Our app will be called Farcaster. Easy to explain to the average person—"download Farcaster in the App Store". 3. Sign ups for most people will be free. Link your X / Twitter account and no payment required. 4. Wallet will be available on web. And thanks to auth addresses, no more "please open your phone to continue using this mini app". 5. Wallet and mini apps will expand their support to multiple chains. If there's an interesting app in crypto, the goal will be to have it play nicely with Farcaster. 6. We're going to continue scaling our weekly reward programs: iterating on casting and building mini apps, but we're also working on a new version of the invite program that rewards referrals AND retention.

Why use x for linking when instagram is much more popular? I know at least 10x more people with ig accounts

I figure more of their peer group is actively on X. For my crowd, ig is more the contact card of the day if it’s not just direct phone number. X seems like when my peers are trying to chat older crowd. And of course that’s where the legacy techies are if not some more niche forums.

Makes sense there could also be a privacy thing since ig is more connected to people’s real personal lives. I still think it would be great to have an option between the two since it’s pretty rare for people outside of tech to have an x account
