Wrapping up on the last of the data-scraping to disprove the whole "Polygon is the payments chain, Base is for idle assets" narrative that Polygon's 'marketing' team have been pushing. Funniest part is, just doing the on-chain scraping has already told me the answers. Despite the Base RPC I'm using being a bit faster/more responsive than the Polygon RPC, it took about 4x longer to pull down the data from the same date range. Glanced at the results, and yep, it pulled down about 4x the amount of transactions. So the "idle assets" argument is already out the window by tx volume alone.

So are you saying you think the Tx volume being so high is just the Polygon team faking the usage? It does seem weird that within the same date range, Base has less volume, especially recently. If all these Polygon users exist, where are they?

Yeah, I’ve no doubts on that - but even the manipulated volume isn’t anywhere near matching Base volume. It’s a very desperate effort from Polygon, especially in trying to publicly compare themselves to Base, using faked stats to amplify their argument.
