nah, xmtp messaging isn't that popular on fc so doesn't make sense to add an extra choice/press. i do link to converse for lens profiles though.

other issues is there's no one main app to link to for xmtp. for example i personally dont use converse anymore so cant use the dm button on lens profiles lol.

Is it hard to build XMTP into Buttrfly? Lenster/Hey has had it since pretty much day one. 

With respect to popularity, I think they go where the crowd is. Once it’s in a few places they’ll use.

buttrfly did have xmtp support for more than a year (since jan 2023). it was the second mobile app to add xmtp after converse. but i removed it a few months ago for many reasons.

I knew I remembered it being there. I get that there has been a spam issue. If it’s not something you want to support going forward I understand, but I think it’s a mistake for us to keep encouraging people to use Warpcast DCs. It’s like the least web3 solution imaginable.
